An interesting take on the zombie genre. Really enjoyed the character interaction as well as the exciting action scenes. A pity it isn't longer, but it is as long as it needs to be. Looking forward to the sequel. )
I came across this book by accident and have to admit that zombie thrillers aren't normally my bag, but The Hibernia Strain made me change my mind. It's well written, faced paced and a really enthralling read. Highly recommended!
Zombie lovers won't find any new, groundbreaking twists here, but they will find one of the best crafted apocalypse tales I've read in a while.
This isn't so much about surviving/fighting the zombie apocalypse as it is a "what would I do?" exercise. The hero is such an average Joe (or bloke) and the tone so neutral, that it all must have been intended. You're riding along with him and really get sucked into the story. It's you making choices, not just rooting for someone else. That's a hard effect to pull off!
Reminds me a lot of that classic Cold War movie, "Miracle Mile." Just substitute zombies for nukes and with a happier ending! A lot of fun.
I have tried to be objective and not too critical of this work, but I still come back to the question of originality. Though I do enjoy the stories of zombie hordes and apocalyptic events, I just wish someone could come up with an original idea. Just one? Anybody?
This book is a great read. I enjoyed the characters very much. The storyline is not different but can be in the next book.
I am picky about the zombie books I read, but this one was absolutely fabulous! So enjoyable, in fact, that I would have liked it to be a bit longer. Looking forward to more books from this author!
I'm not a huge fan of the first person story, but the writing in this book made it so easy to enjoy. It's a fun book. I almost feel weird writing that because of what these two guys are going through with an apocalypse event happening and all but it is fun. The writing and dialogue are great and kept me turning the pages. Looking forward to starting the next one.
